A banda Le Tigre foi formada em 1998 na cidade de Nova York por três garotas vindas de diferentes áreas da cultura pop: Kathleen Hanna (ex-Bikini Kill, banda punk feminista), Johanna Fateman (zineira, na escola sempre se dedicou à arte e questões de política relacionada ao feminismo) e Sadie Benning (videomaker), com orientação feminista, típica do movimento riot grrrl. Samples, punk, eletrônica e hip hop, a música do grupo mistura vários elementos da música pop moderna.
