Issues with posture affect roughly 1 in 3 patients with pectus deformities. It’s unclear why patients with pectus deformities develop such posture, but it is likely a combination of restricted thoracic mobility, weakness of the shoulder and upper back muscles; and poor ‘core’ strength affecting standing position.
