History: Despite the presence of sanctuaries for elephants all throughout the world, every African elephant species is facing dwindling population numbers due to the shrinking of their natural habitat from human incursion, as well as severe poaching. Sadly, elephants are one of the most commonly poached animals worldwide due to size of the illegal ivory trade.
