Even at the beach, the party doesn’t have to stop when high-shine fabrications come to play. While typical metallics (gold, silver, bronze) are still popular, what will really turn heads come next season is the more subtle approach to shine –– often seen in an unexpected pastel like on the runways of OneOne, Beach Bunny, and Brasilia.

Aqua Blue Bathing Suit

Blue? For swimwear? Groundbreaking, I know. Hear me out, this aquatic hue feels fresh once again with its electric undertones. Luli Fama had this color headline her Almalfi-inspired collection while Bahama Mama and Cupshe matched it back to other brights for a punchy palette. 

Swimwear-as-outerwear

When chatting collections in South Beach, no conversation was complete without the mention of beach-to-bar dressing. Think: versatile cover-up dresses, flowy pants, and matching sets that can take you from a casual day at the beach into the evening, through a simple swap of accessories. Swimsuits In Unexpected Fabrics

While prints will always be focal in swimwear, this season we saw a shift to experimentation within fabrications instead. There were far fewer materials typically suited for the sea (like neoprene) and more that are synonymous with ready-to-wear –– like lace, terry cloth, crochet, and denim –– that lend an innovative touch to the water-ready collections.
