Shown are varying gauges of dead soft, solid copper round wire coils. We do not coat the wire as it is intended to patina naturally as well as be suitable for polishing or brushing(ultra fine steel wool). This wire may be purchased in a multitude of oxidized effects. Below are standard finishes. If you would like something to blend/match an existing element please add details in
FINISHES
Natural/Polished: This is a clean, raw, polished copper that has a traditional orange color and mirror shine when shipped. With wear and exposure it patinas naturally(similar to a penny) and is easily cleaned/polished if a darker patina is not desired.
LIGHT OX- This is an oxidized copper-this finish gives metal an instant aged appearance. Our oxidizing is more blended rather than appearing as a mix of light, medium, and dark tones. In addition to "aging" a metal the oxidizing calms the natural metal tone and better controls the patina path. This finish is waxed and has a satin appearance. In nickel silver this oxidizing produces a cooler tone antique silver and minimizes the gold-silver(amber) oxidizing. It also has an appearance similar to oxidized sterling.
MEDIUM OX -This is a s a combination of light, medium, and dark tones for each metal. This finish is waxed for a satin appearance.
DARK OX FINISHES
Dark Ox finishes are intended to bypass the traditional patina path of raw copper. With use and wear the effect will become a deeper antique copper featuring highlights and lowlights.
DARK OX MATTE - in each metal this a dark brown(for golds and copper) or char/black(for nickel) with little or no base reveal. The matte color tone is warm and appears smooth to semi rustic.
DARK OX POLISHED(oil rubbed bronze in brass and bronze metal)- this is the same process as dark ox matte but the polishing adds a medium to high shine as well as making the deep color finish more cool toned. In nickel silver this finish is similar to gunmetal. In sterling silver this finish is similar to black sterling silver.
